After the extraordinary success of last year, Medimex, International Festival & Music Conference organized by Puglia Sounds, the project of the Puglia Region for the development of the regional music system implemented with the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, is back in Taranto. From 5 to 9 June there will be four days of music with international stars, an exhibition on Woodstock and other exhibitions, meetings with artists, important spaces for professional exchange on the opportunities of the world market, training activities, cinema and many other activities.

Of absolute prestige is the schedule of the mainstage on the town’s waterfront along the Lungomare Vittorio Emanuele III:
Friday, June 7 double appointment with the American “Cigarettes After Sex”, the leading group of ambient pop based in New York, and the British “Editors”, one of the most successful realities of modern wave-rock; Saturday, June 8 Liam Gallagher, the former frontman of Oasis, one of the most recognisable figures of the brit-pop, who is about to release his second solo album after As You Were. Patti Smith completes the picture of the headliners, Sunday, June 9. As announced, she will celebrate, exclusively for Medimex, the 40th anniversary of the legendary concerts in Bologna and Florence in 1979, which marked the return to Italy of the great rock rallies after the “season of accidents”. Advance sale tickets for the three evenings are available from 12.00 noon on Wednesday, March 27 on the vivaticket circuit. Also this year Medimex offers affordable prices for everyone: 15 euros for Friday 7, 25 euros for Saturday 8, 15 euros for Sunday 9 and a concert subscription (three evenings) at 45 euros.
The other Medimex concerts will be programmed through a public call available on the website www.medimex.it, addressed to national and regional acts/operators, who can propose live performances before the headliners on the mainstage and for the stage of Villa Peripato that this year will also be used for live concerts. The selection envisages a share of performances reserved to Apulian artists.
Medimex also renews its partnership with Birra Raffo, a historic brand that has been closely linked to the history and identity of the town of the two seas for 100 years, once again the main sponsor of the event. The complete program will be announced in the next few weeks. It will also include meetings with the protagonists of Italian music, professional activities and networking events for regional and national artists and music operators, music schools, DJ sets, exhibitions, the Medimex Music Market, screenings, side activities and a “glimpse” into the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, the American festival that in 1969 marked the season of the gigantic rock gatherings, which in the following years disappeared in Italy for reasons of public order to be resumed only in 1979 with the memorable concerts of Patti Smith in Bologna and Florence.
Medimex in Taranto will be preceded by the Spring edition scheduled in Foggia, from 11 to 14 April, with guests Renzo Arbore, coordinator of a special project – free admission – involving jazz musicians Enrico Rava, Dado Moroni, Rosario Bonaccorso, Roberto Gatto, Stefano Di Battista, Enrico Zanisi , the singer Nicky Nicolai, and the British musician Bryan Ferry, founder of Roxy Music, who will be in Foggia for the only Italian date – free entry – of his world tour, and photographer Pattie Boyd, extraordinary witness of the years of Swingin’ London who will present an exhibition on the Beatles.
