With Francesco Mariotti (Artistic director of PISA JAZZ Festival)
Developing a new audience, increasing the presence of young people, involving the community, increasing tourism, all of which are central themes for the development of both small and large jazz festivals, and beyond. We will talk about best practices meeting one of the most innovative jazz festivals of the Italian scene.
Francesco Mariotti is the President of the ExWide Association and Artistic Director of the Pisa Jazz project. Graduated in Philosophy in 2004, he subsequently earned a master’s degree in Live Show Management at Palazzo Spinelli in Florence. Thanks to its precious contribution, Pisa Jazz has evolved from a small concert series of provincial relevance to a complex jazz promotion project, one of the most appreciated at national level. Since 2010 he is the Event Organization Manager of FLU Società Cooperativa (Argini e Margini, ArnoVivo) Since 2014 he is music consultant for the Music Pool Association (Fiesole Jazz, Vicchio Jazz, Spring Jazz, Valdarno Jazz, Empoli Jazz, GreyCat Jazz Festival, Estate Fiorentina). Since 2015 he is artistic musical director and music production director for Internet Festival. In the summer of 2018 he curated the first edition of the “Farnese, Tufo & Jazz” festival.
“ExWide” Association was born in Pisa in December 2008. The association runs the club of the same name, with a schedule that runs from the end of October to the end of April and a capacity of around 150 people. Following in the footsteps of the historic international jazz shows of the 70s and 80s, in 2010 ExWide created “Pisa Jazz”, a specific project dedicated to the promotion of jazz music, supported both by public and private bodies.
ExWide also manages the programming of the reference venues of the Pisan summer season, “Argini e Margini” and “ArnoVivo”, respectively from 2008 and 2009, where concert series are held every weekend from June to September.
ExWide is a member of I-Jazz since 2015.
