DESCRIPTION

JoyCut
JoyCut is a musical project that has always been characterized and identified by an international dimension. Firmly connected to environmental issues, over the years this project has left a deep mark on the music scene, being appreciated and recognized outside the borders of our country. Between 2013 and 2016, 300 concerts were held in Europe, North America and Asia.
In 2014 MTV Iggy defined them as one of the ten most interesting bands of SXSW. In 2015 they entered the Top 5 of the ETEP. Never before had an Italian been able to do so!
In 2016 they were the stage of a TEDx in Verona. In 2017, after their tour in China and Japan, they were invited to make their debut at the Venice Biennale. In 2018 the JoyCut were invited by Robert Smith (The Cure) to the 25th anniversary of the Meltdown Festival in London of which Mr. Smith himself is Artistic Curator.

“It’s in the places you didn’t even know existed before, that you end up being the happiest.”
Rereading Cees Nooteboom, a tireless explorer of cultures, allows us to take the poetics of the journey back onto a more comfortable track for her: a pure, spontaneous and overturning search for the human condition, where the “border” becomes a meeting place and not a point of confrontation. Japan continues to represent an open challenge for the West, a deeply rooted experience full of elegance, harmony, beauty, the dreamy dimension of a meditative tradition, a contemplative gesture aimed at the highest good, the light. Moved in their soul by the recent and very vivid adventure in the land of the East, the JoyCut, in collaboration with director Asato Sakamoto, make their debut with the First Opera “Komorebi”, presented as an exclusive performance at the Venice Biennale, for the 61st International Music Festival.

Komorebi is “the particular effect of sunlight when it passes through the thin and light leaves of trees”.
