Fifty years of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, to celebrate, also with some acoustic songs, one of the most representative groups of the Apulian scene.

In 2025, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (CGS), the most important and long-lived band of Apulian music, celebrates its 50th anniversary. Founded by writer Rina Durante in 1975, the group was taken over by Mauro Durante in 2007, who inherited the leadership from his father Daniele, an acclaimed musician and researcher. Under Mauro’s direction, CGS has made history in Italian world music, with critically acclaimed albums and countless tours around the world. As The Guardian points out, CGS has succeeded in transforming the music and dance of “pizzica”, what is now called “Taranta”, into a global phenomenon.
