InFormal Setting is the debut album by Federico Nuti, a Tuscan pianist and composer who won second place in the Best New Talent category at Musica Jazz’s Top Jazz 2022. The acoustic quintet explores interplay and textures, seeking a narrative balance between freedom and structure. The group combines contemporary languages and “avant-garde” influences, incorporating compositional forms and sounds that can be traced back to African-American and European influences. After their debut at the Teatro Giotto in Vicchio in December 2021 for the Jazz Prime Festival of Musicus Concentus, the group performed in renowned venues such as Sala Vanni and Panic Jazz Club, and participated in international festivals such as Jazzahead! 2024 in Bremen.
