Um/Welt explores the creation of worlds that interact through sound. The project, conceived by double bass player and composer Marco Centasso, also involves singer and oud player Sarra Douik, saxophonist and clarinetist Manuel Caliumi and electronic musician and researcher Riccardo Sellan. The German term Umwelt means environment but literally translates as surrounding world, a concept adopted by biologist Jakob von Uexküll to describe the unique perspective of each organism in interacting with the world. Interpreted in this way, the concept of Umwelt transcends the boundaries of being, extending also to non-humans, offering the opportunity to go beyond the limits of human diversity and communicability.
