MEDIMEX stays at anchor.
The 2025 edition of MEDIMEX takes place in Taranto, where the programme is spread across 7 venues: the University of Bari – Ionian Department, Teatro Fusco, Castello Aragonese, MArTA (National Archaeological Museum of Taranto), Caffè Letterario, Spazioporto and Rotonda del Lungomare. All from 17 to 21 June.
The University is the main venue of the Conference, with 18 events on the programme. 8 panels: music festivals; the economics of music; mapping festivals and live music venues in Puglia; creativity and European funding; new perspectives between jazz, hip hop and street culture; the influence of AI on music; music for images; music as a language that can save the world. 3 workshops: self-production and digital distribution; mixing between jazz and pop, and between rock and metal. 4 networking sessions. 2 talks: double standards; the career of the producer and sound engineer Marc Urselli. 1 presentation: the European Jazz Conference 2025 in Bari.
At MArTA, the exhibition “Amy Winehouse before Frank”: more than 50 selected shots by the photographer Charles Moriarty, documenting two days of shooting in London and New York before the shot that would become the cover of Frank. The photographer leads a talk at MArTA; a second talk, at the University, celebrates fifty years of the Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino. 5 concerts on the Rotonda del Lungomare: St. Vincent, Primal Scream, Comrad, Massive Attack, Kyoto.
At the Castello Aragonese, the memory of the Mediterranean resurfaces and becomes explicit in “Le Strade del Mediterraneo” (The Roads of the Mediterranean), the special series curated by Antonio Diodato. 3 artists in concert: La Niña, Bab L’Bluz, Magalì Datzira.
At the Teatro Fusco, 4 Incontri & Racconti: “Once in a lifetime, the story of Talking Heads”; “Billie Holiday: chasing the scream”; “Bob Marley: songs of redemption”; “The Clash: (songs of) joy and revolution”. The theatre also hosts a screening of the film “Blur – To the End” by Toby L., with Dave Rowntree.
16 artists play showcases at Spazioporto: Scuro, Cheema, Music Unite, TI, Giin, Partinico Rose, Alex Cole, Simoni:Teolis, Natalia Abbascià, Ra di Spina, Alessandro Campobasso Endless Trio, Gaia Mobilij, Federico Nuti inFormal Setting, Ava Trio, Marco Centasso UM/Welt, Joe Allotta. They are joined by 2 DJ sets with Don Letts and Dave Rowntree.
The University hosts the lessons of the Medimex Music Factory, run in collaboration with Warner Chappell Music. The tutors are Gianmarco Grande, Stabber, Winniedeputa, Adel Al Kassem, Angelica, Vincenzo Colella, Galeffi, Nuvola, Gianni Pollex, Francesco Cerasi, Federico de’ Robertis and Andrea Guerra. The edition also launches Medimex Music Business Management for under-35s, co-branded with 24Ore Business School.
The Caffè Letterario hosts 4 book presentations: the “literary detours” of the Medimex Book Stories series continue.
The façade of the Castello Aragonese hosts the projection mapping show “On the road compilation” by Roberto Santoro and Blending Pixels.
